In keeping with our Minibeasts theme, the Nursery children enjoyed the story of The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. Incidentally, we do thoroughly enjoy Eric Carle books, having already studied ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See’ and next week we will be reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘The Bad Tempered Ladybird.’

Our activities included making spiders out of playdough and transient art resources, acting out the story, counting spider legs and counting votes as to who likes or dislikes spiders. We discovered that most nursery children said they like spiders. 🕷This vote seemed to change somewhat though when the children were presented with a real life arachnid and invited to give him a cuddle!🕸
