Key Information
Our school is situated in Southport, Merseyside in the local authority of Sefton.
Kew Woods Primary School is a one and a half form entry school for pupils aged 3-11. We serve the Kew estate and surrounding areas but in practice many of our pupils travel some distance to get to our school.
The school is set in magnificent grounds which we continually develop for outdoor learning and play. This year, our playground and sports zone have been improved with new markings to encourage a wider range of activities.
The five key outcomes of ‘Every Child Matters’ is at the heart of our work. This is reflected in our mission statement, leadership structure and in everything we do. We really believe that every child matters.
Visitors to Kew Woods invariably comment on how impressed they are with our pupils who are confident, articulate and independent. We nurture our pupil's self-esteem - for we believe when children feel good about themselves they can reach their highest level of personal success. The key to success is by both congratulating and rewarding pupils for their attainments and by giving positive feedback on how they can improve further. Our 'Celebration Assemblies' and ‘End of Year Award Ceremony’ play an important role in reinforcing our school's vision and values.
As well as achieving high academic standards the pupils at Kew Woods enjoy a broad and much enriched curriculum. As well as the national curriculum subjects, Key Stage 1 and 2 enjoy a performing arts lesson each week, our key stage 2 pupils learn French. Our extra curricular programme is a key feature of our school.
